Rugby Legend Tim Lane Swaps Sidelines for Surf & Sundowners
Now calling Port Macquarie home, former Wallabies coach Tim Lane has traded the world of international rugby for a laid-back lifestyle on the Mid North Coast – and he’s loving it. These days, you’ll find him catching up with friends at Birdrock Bar & Grill, managing holiday stays at Ki-ea Apartments, and enjoying regular rounds of golf at the Port Macquarie Golf Club.
After years of coaching abroad, Tim chose Port for its coastal charm and welcoming community. “There’s just something special about this place,” he says. He’s still got his eye on the Wallabies too, offering sharp commentary on the squad’s recent form ahead of their next major test against the British & Irish Lions. READ MORE HERE

Wauchope Thunder 10 year Gala Dinner
It was a wonderful night at the Wauchope Thunder Rugby Club's 10-year gala dinner. Alistair Flower of Flower Hotels was proud to attend and sponsor the event, which celebrated a decade of community spirit and sporting success. The club, while still in its infancy, has become a true powerhouse, uniting the community and introducing many to the sport of rugby for the first time.
"It's wonderful how the Wauchope Thunder has united the community. I love seeing the huge number of kids coming through, many of whom are trying rugby for the first time." Alistair Flower
The evening also highlighted the club's incredible impact on women's rugby on the Mid North Coast, having ignited the movement and producing top-tier talent who have gone on to represent the Waratahs and even the NRLW..
Stars of Hastings
This week, Alistair Flower has the privilege of judging the Stars of Hastings, (Proudly sponsored by Mercure) where locals step out of their comfort zones and onto the stage – all to raise funds for important local causes.
A special mention goes to Jimmy Laing, whose dedication has helped him raise nearly $10,000 for Cancer Council. Best of luck with his performance—we've heard it's going to be a showstopper!
The talent and heart on display are next level. Hats off to everyone involved – it’s shaping up to be a night to remember!
